Nigerian Army open fire on students protesting ASUU strike

 

Some Nigerian Army personnel on Tuesday harassed and shot at students who are protesting against the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Akure.

According to SaharaReporters, the students had taken over the Akure-Ilesa highway in protest of the ASUU strike when soldiers stormed the area and began shooting indiscriminately.

 

Troops kill 4 gunmen

 

 

Troops of 34 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Obinze, in Owerri, killed four gunmen in Amaifeke and Ihioma communities in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo on Monday.

Director, Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, stated in Owerri that items recovered from the encounter included one pump action gun and 10 live cartridges.
